Martha Shen-Urquidez, CEO, founded USAsia consulting in order to address the complex needs of foreign companies trying to do business in China.  Prior to founding USAsia, Ms. Shen-Urquidez served as external consultant to a number of international private equity funds and as general counsel to the subsidiary of a U.S listed company doing business in China.

Since coming to China, Ms. Shen-Urquidez has recovered RMB 400 million in accounts receivables, introduced legal compliance and ethical guidelines into a Chinese electronics distribution company, recovered the full amount of an investment made by an international private equity fund from a fraudulent investor, successfully oversaw labor disputes and corporate litigation across multiple jurisdictions in China. Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and the United States (on behalf of both Chinese and international companies).  Ms. Shen-Urquidez has worked with American universities, retailers, manufacturing companies, wineries and sports promotion companies to enter China, develop government relations, obtain approvals and even assist with their initial commercial sales.

Ms. Shen-Urquidez was asked to serve as Cross-Cultural affairs expert for the 2008 Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee, for whom she assisted in developing training materials, and she provided advice and input on resolving issues as they arose during the Olympics itself.  Ms. Shen-Urquidez is a credentialed amateur and professional boxing referee for the California State Athletic Commission.

Ms. Shen-Urquidez, an attorney licensed in the State of California, has practiced law for more than 20 years.  She is an Advocate Member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates, served as faculty member for the National Institute of Trials, was a member of the Inns of Court and acted as Probation Officer for the California State Bar Association’s Office of Trials.  She has served as Judge Pro Tem (temporary judge) in various civil and quasi-criminal courts and as a Court Appointed Arbitrator and Senior Protocol Officer for the California South Bay Economic Development Cooperation.  More notably, Ms. Shen-Urquidez has served as attorney and training expert for seven (7) police departments in Southern California and authored both training and procedure manuals, which have been incorporated into the training program for the USA’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as well as training programs and manuals for multiple police departments across the United States.  She published Defending Peace Officers in Southern California and False Claims Act Handbook for government agencies.
